Naming Our Hallways
The school principal gave us the job to have the students vote for an American Hero and that name would be used to name our hallways. Here are the names and some of the many signs that I designed.

Expressive Art Lesson - Attitude and Differences
Here are more of the different lessons and art activity done by my students:
Enjoy!
HERE STUDENTS DID THUMB PRINTS - COLORED THE BEEHIVE AND DREW "HORNETS WITH ATTITUDE". I talked to the students about have the right attitude can be you to accomplish a lot of wonderful things in like. We compared the good attitude that bees have and the mean attitude they can have when provoked.
We talked about how to focus our attitudes in a positive way. We all have attitudes but we must learn to use them correctly.
HERE THE STUDENTS WERE TO COLOR THEIR NAMES AND CREATE A CONSTRUCTION PAPER FRAME AND CUT AND GLUE THEIR FINAL PRODUCT.
The object to this lesson was to discuss differences. We talked about racial differences. How eventhough we all have a different name, color of skin and type of hair, we are all the same.
This lesson came because the Pre-K and K teachers were having trouble with students being mean to each other because they were of different race and color.
I went to the specific classrooms and read them a book and discussed the issue and in class we did the activity below:

Expressive Art Project - Bullying and Changes and Johnny Appleseed
Here are a few of the many counseling lessons using expressive art that I worked on during the past Fall Semester.
Enjoy!
In this picture, I had my students take off one shoe and sock and they stamped their foot onto the large butcher paper - even some of the teachers joined in the fun.
These two pictures (above and below) are the finger puppets the students colored during our "Johnny Appleseed" storytime.
When I taught my students about changes - how things do not always have to be the same, there are many different colors, ways of doing things and the end results are different for everyone. Students learned that making changes takes time and patience. They enjoyed glueing the different pieces and no two pictures were alike.
This activity is called "Kids in Space". The students traced their hands and shoes. We talked about cooperation and how they had to partner up with another students and help the other person trace their hand and shoes. It worked really great and the students had a lot of fun....some of the teachers got into the activity too.
Enjoy!
